The door bell rings.
Tony: Doc, were you expecting someone?
Doc: Nope.
Doc opens the door and there is a man standing there.
The Man: Hello. Dr.Albert?
Doc: Hello. Yes.
Tony: Hey, it’s Jack. Hi, how are you? How come you are here?
Jack: Hey Tony, Sam. How come you guys are here?
Tony: Need you ask?
Doc: Ehm.
Tony: Oops sorry. This is Jack. He is one of us. Same story, looking for help.
Doc: Ow, please come in.
Tony: Jack had actually used local police authorities to track you guys down.
Doc: Did it help?
Tony: No.
Doc: Coz the technologies we use have never been released into the market. All the local authorities will know is where you go, who comes and goes into your house and what you do. But apart from that we know the state of each and every muscle fiber in your body…
Jack: Yeah, yeah, I know. That is why they went for my muscles.
Doc: Your body seems perfectly proportioned to me. From your figure I can make out, you must have been in the CEO program.
Tony: CEO program?
Doc: We just configure the person’s attitude, behaviors and physique to train him for the related job.
Jack: No thanks Doc, I am happy with what I can achieve by myself.
Doc: You guys know that the Crew knows that you are with me. What do you think they must be doing right now?
Sam: Cleaning up their act … preparing theories of logical explanations of whatever they have done must have occurred naturally, keeping their existence unknown.
Tony: And if they can’t come up with that, they will just blame one of the residents who were with us that he/she must have done it because of some kind of dislike… ha ha ha.
Sam and Tony (playfully imitate the Crew): Arrgh … not only he lists things that he doesn’t like about us but also uses them as a reason not to be with us …arrgh. I would be so mad at a guy like that.
Doc: You guys are getting good at this.
Sam: Yeah, we are not very proud of that. Tell me Doc … how can you give a logical explanation for this. Two years back, my skin gets so dry and itchy that it starts hurting … I get a cream for that and control it … then I get sores in my mouth … after a few days muscles on my body start depleting … then hair start falling … then my teeth get very sensitive. All of them step by step systematically, when I have no tension and I am simply working from home as I have been doing from the last two years.
Doc is silent.
Sam: I have never been sick. The only time I have been sick is when I had chicken pox when I was a small kid. I have had a very healthy life. All I had to deal with is just cough and cold. And now this crap.
Doc: I know, I am sorry. Those were some side-effects of the medications given to you in the process or someone from the Crew has been mischievous.
Sam: Yes, I know.
Doc: Have you stayed in the same place since the past 4 years?
Sam: No, I have travelled for work. Why?
Doc: Different areas have different Crew members working on you.
Sam: They are all the same to me, ‘work with me and get a nice ride’. And they don’t understand the meaning of no thanks.
Doc: You know that they will always win right?
Sam: Win? What is there to win? Among all this, who is trying to win and what is kept there to win?
Tony: If there was anything to win, they should have won ‘us’. And they lost us a long time back. There is nothing left now except for their cynical and bitter behavior.
Doc: You guys are so against them.
Sam: No Doc, I have not been against them. I have simply been for myself and my right to do what I want to do. It is a sin to tolerate their aggression on me. I own every cell in my body and I am answerable and responsible for them. What am I supposed to tell God … thanks for giving me the skills that you gave me but I am sorry I met some psychos down there and they thought otherwise and I couldn’t do anything about it.
Jack: Sam... chill. Tell us Doc how should we make it clear that we don’t need them, we don’t want them and we will always reject and resist them.
Doc: Well, I think you guys are doing a pretty good job already.
Jack: Why did you stop working for them Doc?
Doc: I made a good amount of money working for them and I thought of spending a few years of my life on my own.
Jack: That sounds fine.
Doc: You guys can also get what you want.
Jack: Doc? (surprised) I think we can get what we want by ourselves. And we are not doing anything so complicated that we need help.
Doc: It is actually the other way round. It is the Crew that needs you. It is the Crew that needs your help for its works.
Jack: For starters, that’s a nice way of asking help. So, you are having a good time now that you are not working for them.
Doc: No it is not like that. I had a good time with them too. It’s just that..
Jack: That?
Doc: It feels nice to make my own decisions after a while.
Jack: Yes, it does. Doesn’t it.
Doc: The Crew knows simply too much. Too much for a single man to handle. They have a system developed to give you the best advice in any field. It’s like having scores of specialists working behind you.
Sam: And?
Doc: They rarely give a wrong advice. Even if they do, they make up to it. Feels safe but everything I do is because the Crew told me to. One day I am nice to a guy because the Crew wants me to be and then the next day I am different with the same guy because the Crew wants me to.
Tony: And you end up being a puppet.
Doc: Lol … yeah, that’s one way to see it.
Sam: And they start controlling you, which everyone here might not be comfortable with.
Doc: Okay I want all three of you to sit down and I will solve this problem right now.
All three look at each other.
Sam: Well, alright. I am prepared for it, what do we have?
Doc: I have worked with the Crew for several years. I know them inside out. We are not bad people and we do not do bad things to other people.
Tony: But…
Doc: Let me explain. If the Crew wants you, then there must be something good in you. And if they have been with you like for 4 years, they must really like you. Tell me which girl did you go after for 4 years in spite of all the rejections. After all we are all humans here, we all have feelings.
Tony: Yes, but their work speaks of the contrary. They have also told us dozens of time that they like us. If they like us then why do they trouble us?
Sam: The truth is you don’t like us.
Doc looks surprised.
Sam: C’mon Doc, who are we afraid of. Let’s be honest. You don’t like us. I myself wouldn’t like a guy who wouldn’t appreciate what I am doing for him.
Doc: So why don’t you appreciate what we do for you?
Sam: And what is that exactly? If I want something then I will get it myself. If I can’t get it then so be it.
Doc: Jack, you have worked with us. You know how much we care. Look at yourself, we gave you such a great body within a few months. Why did you move out?
Jack: I don’t even want to talk about it Doc. First you mess with me and then you give me back something that I already had. And now you allow yourself you get involved in everything, every little thing. Because you did something for me, your godly principles dictate that you can get involved with me 24 hours of my life. Who would like his boss to tell him what to do round the clock?
Doc: Alright, you guys work with us and I will promise you, I will personally make sure each and every one of you will get his health back.
Tony: Lol .. isn’t that low Doc. Trying to control people using their health?
Doc: You guys are tough and don’t like us at all.
Sam: No, we are very simple. There is no question of liking you or not. We don’t even bother if you guys exist or not. You guys have absolutely no right over us and we want you out, that’s what this is all about.
Tony: And if you guys have done something which presumably gives you any right over us, then you can take that help and shove it up yours.
Jack: Guys, guys, cool down. I will give it to you in very simple words Doc. We all say stuff that we want to do. But the truth is we are what we actually do. The truth about us is that we are stuck in this situation trying to get rid of you.
Doc is silent … sighs.
